The Toyota Aygo

Toyota Aygo is a quality supermini that that is way ahead of competitors such as Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107. This was possible because of Toyota's performance and reliability record. The performance is very good, considering the engine size.

The Toyota Aygo gets on with the business of driving and injects a massive dose of fun. It's not exceptionally grippy, and there is a touch of body-roll through the corners, but the Aygo feels energetic.
The used diesel Aygo is more than comfortable on a motorway cruise; more so than the three-cylinder petrol alternative. Given the 0-60mph time of 16 seconds quoted by Toyota it wouldn't be reasonable to expect anything other than lethargy, but in practice the Aygo never feels that slow or overawed by the demands of driving on the open road.

All the versions of Toyota Aygo get ABS, four airbags and a CD playing stereo (complete with auxiliary input for an MP3 player) - but the basic model has wind-up windows and no central locking. Equipment gets better further up the range - although at prices that put the Aygo into contention with full-sized superminis.

Toyota's innovative engineering is well expressed in the Aygo. The rear door is a simple glass panel, reducing weight while still ensuring the car has good structural strength. The cabin thrives with additional storage space, making the Aygo a small car with a capacious interior.

Aygo is designed with the same superior quality throughout that's the characteristic of all modern Toyota machinery. Toyota builds cars to last. The used Toyota Aygo cars are hence very sturdy in nature. From the bright and open interior to the sculpted sporty exterior, the used Aygo stands out among the city car crowd as a machine that's modern, stylish and built to last.

The 2009 Dodge Avenger SXT

We recently received a Deep Water Blue Pearl 2009 Dodge Avenger SXT in our Top Speed test fleet. The Avenger is the smallest sedan in the Chrysler lineup and because of that it carries a few styling cues from its larger brother, the Charger.

Aside from the captivating pearlescent paint our Avenger's most attractive feature are the blistered fender flares that house 18 inch thick five spoke rims and the bold hump in the rear quarter panel that gives this little front wheel drive four door the stance of a bona fide muscle car along with the sharp front lip and rear wing. Our Avenger is powered by a very forward thinking Flexfuel E85 compatible 2.7 Liter 24 Valve V6 that makes 187 HP and is mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission.

The combination is good for 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. The 2009 Dodge Avenger starts at $21,500, but after adding on the extra charges for the: pearl paint, premium convenience group, wheel and tire package, electronic stability program, 2.7 Liter V6, power sunroof, uconnect GPS and the destination charge; our well equipped Avenger retails for $27,955. We can't wait to get behind the wheel. Read more on http://www.topspeed.com

The Aptera 2E

With the amount of pollution rising due to the vehicles, there is no doubt that there is a need to change our outlook as to how we design our vehicles. Aptera Motors is one of the companies that have taken the initiative to provide a new way of designing our vehicles. Their Aptera 2e offering is the vehicle that we are going to focus on here.

Aptera Motors have made something of a super-car with their Aptera 2e initiative; and it certainly looks like one too. At first sight, the Aptera 2e does not even look like a car, but like some private plane on a runway. Once it's on the road, this car will really stand out like nothing before ever has. I can promise you that it is certainly going to be a show stopper!

The oddest thing about this car is that it has only three wheels; two in front and one at the back. Never before has a car been designed like this. The doors open upwards, which makes the Aptera 2e all the more stylish.

Aptera promises that the 2e will deliver at least 100 miles on electricity alone, with a small gasoline engine to recharge the batteries to extend their range. The car works on a 13 kilowatt hour lithium ion battery and it can be recharged by plugging it into a standard 110-volt, 10-ampere outlet. Absence of fuel does not mean that performance is compromised. Aptera has said that the Aptera 2e can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of 10 seconds, which is no joke.

Aptera has gone so far as to have a solar panel on the roof of the car so that it powers the excellent ventilation that the car provides. This wonder kid promises to change the scene when it comes to automobiles for the better of nature.

The Toyota Supra

Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra is one of the greatest cars to ever come out of Japan and is internationally recognized as a sports car icon. Produced from 1979 until 2001 in Japan (only produced until 1998 in North America), each generation has remained a choice platform for tuners around the world. Every generation came with a high horse power inline six engine either naturally aspired, turbocharged or twin turbo charged. The Toyota Supras engines include the 5M-GE, 7M-GE, 7M-GTE, 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GE and the notorious 2JZ-GTE. Even today there isn't a more popular generation, sure everyone wants a MK4 Toyota Supra but the MK2 and MK3 Supras have HUGE followings!

MKII Toyota Supra Produced from 1982 until 1986 the second generation Toyota Supra (still known as the Celica Supra) came with a inline six 5M-GE with 175 horsepower. It had a boxy shape, flip up headlights and wide fender flares.

MKIII Toyota Supra The Mark III Supra was introduced in mid 1986. In the first year it was only available with a 200HP 7M-GE engine. In 1987 the Toyota Supra made a Turbocharged model with a 230HP 7M-GTE, the new model came with turbo badges, R-154 transmission, rear spoiler and other accessories. In 1989 the Supra was semi-updated with a new front bumper, 3 piece tail lights, new trim, 3 piece rear spoiler and other minor accessories. In Japan, 1989 was also the year the Twin Turbo R edition was released, it sported a twin turbo high revving 1JZ-GTE power plant with 280HP. The 1JZ was downgraded to 2.5L which didn't give it as much torque to power as the 7M did, but its the "smooth power" what won its owners over. Today, the 1JZ is a common swap for MK2 and MK3 Supras alike and are becoming more and more difficult to find a decent imported 1JZ. The MKIII Supra was made from 1986.5 to 1992.

MKIV Toyota Supra Without a doubt the Mark IV Toyota Supra is one of, if not the car what defines the term "Japanese Sports Car". It has the looks, control and the POWER. In 1993 the latest model Supra was released and has since been the poster car for the higher class import scene. Its been in countless movies, Its won many drag race series, show series, dyno challenges and has stolen the life out of countless muscle car owners on the highway. There is no denying how potent the 2JZ power plant is with its 320HP stock - remember this was in 1993 when most cars came with not even half of that! The twin turbo's are usually the first list on the upgrade list for most tuners, there have been plenty of powerful twin turbo supras out there, but the easiest way to make power on the 2JZ is with a huge single turbocharger. Its a fairly simple task to pull out 700+HP on the 2JZ-GTE and there are quite a few Supras over 1000-1500+HP. The MKIV Supra continues to go up in value and many think its not fair, but simply put, its a SUPERCAR and for 30K+ its a steal. The Supra, sadly saw its last day in North America in 1998.

The Future Toyota Supra Many enthusiasts have been waiting for a MKV Supra to come out for years. How awesome that would be we have to consider the negatives in that.... The MKIV is a true legend, and will be collected forever, and if the MKV did not live up to those standards - especially with the release of the new Nissan GTR the legacy would almost be for nothing. I am all for Toyota to make a new, high powered rear wheel drive sports car, but would it be so bad if it was under the Lexus brand?

The Jensen 541s British Classic

It is not uncommon for car enthusiasts to sit together and discuss the great cars of our times. During these conversations, names will pass their lips that have long ago secured their places in the history books and captivated enthusiasts in such a way as to guarantee the interest of people reading ten, twenty and even fifty years from now. Think of them now: Bugatti, Chevrolet, Rolls Royce, Volkswagen, Ferrari, and Jensen. They all roll off the tongue and make us aware that here is a medium that deserves our attention. The classic ... hang on, did that just say "Jensen"? Yes, yes it did. What gives?

It is a little-known, but wonderful car that has been greatly admired by a seemingly small number of people. The Jensen 541S has never had the mass appreciation that is reserved for vehicles such as the Ferrari Testarossa, nor the Bugatti Veyron, and yet it is a car that is very much loved by those who own them or have spent some time either driving or learning about them. And this is not down to some kitsch ironic love, either, it is all in respect of just how good the 541S has proven to be since its heyday of the 1950s. Perhaps the reason for its lack of profile among all but the hardiest car buffs is that there were only 127 made. There may not be many of them, when it comes to quantity, but those that were made and those that survive bear testament to the quality.

So what do people love about the Jensen 541S? As the above text suggests, it does have its admirers, and those admirers are very devoted to its charms. Among those charms is its price - both when it was first commercially available and now (if you can find one to buy) it has been excellent value, even undervalued in many people's opinions. Being hand built, there are also precious few maintenance problems to worry about, to the extent where it is one of the few classic old automobiles that can still serve as a car for day-to-day use. Many people who own classic cars may not actually want to drive them frequently, but having one that you can use regularly is a positive for most.

As much as anything, the love for the Jensen seems to stem from the fact that the construction was truly ahead of its time. The Jensen brothers - from their factory in the English West Midlands, created some of the first cars with disc brakes, some of the very first four-wheel drives, and they used wind tunnels to aid their ideas on body design long before it was typical. Their ideas on safety as well showed that they thought more about what they were doing than many of their rivals. The 541S was the first car to have seatbelts as standard, and the dashboard was padded in case of collision. Unlike many cars even now, the inside door handles were kept somewhere where triggering them accidentally was impossible. For these reasons and more, the Jensen 541S hovered up the awards when it was new - and although not so many people know, it is still pretty incredible today.

The Nissan 350z Tein H Tech

To upgrade your 350z handling I advise that you upgrade with a Tein H Tech Lowering Spring. With just added the Teins H Tech lowering spring your 350zed handling improved dramatically. A 350zed replacement for the factory springs, the lightweight performance Tein H spring improves handling, reduce body roll, and do not negatively impact ride quality. Tein is a well known name when it comes to spring and coilover damper kit. Tein products are made in Japan with high grade material for performance and quality.

Tein H Tech lowering spring provides approximately between 1.0 to 1.9 inch drop to achieve a balance between aggressive styling and comfortable ride experience. Check the detail specifications of each Tein H spring set for your car for the exact height drop measurement. Tein H Tech lowering springs lower your car anywhere from 1 to 2 inches. This has the effect of lowering your car's center of gravity, which improves handling. These new springs also have different spring rates and will usually give you a much stiffer ride than the stock springs. You must have a spring compressor tool and know how to use it.

These Tein H Tech lowering spring are under tremendous pressure with an entire car sitting on them, and if one should come loose while using the spring compressor it could easily kill you. Even with the knowledge of how this installation is done it can still take a long time. Tein H Tech lowering spring sets feature rubber spring protector tube to dampen noise level. Tein H Tech springs are first coated with zinc phosphate, a rust-proof material.

The H Tech springs are then finished with long lasting gold powder paint. In addition, each Tein H Tech spring is made using a new material called Vanadium, a strong, lightweight material that retain more spring stroke for optimal quality. Tein H Tech lowering spring give a sleek and modern look to your car and also maintains the quality and stability of the car. The BMW Z21

BMW Just 4/2 concept was introduced in the year 1995 for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show held during the month of November. The Just 4/2 Concept is also known as the BMW Z21. The name basically signifies that the vehicle is a motorcycle, which runs on four wheels. It does not have a roof and comes with two seats with open wheels.

Some of the variants don't even have a windscreen or make use of the engine, which is rear mounted with four cylinders 199 BHP BMW K1100 model. It slings a 1212 pound runabout in just around six seconds to the speed of 62 mph. All kinds of safety necessary equipment has been provided in Just 4/2 model. There is also side impact protection and an inclusion of airbags for the safety of passengers and driver.

It unveils many of the latest ideas like the trunk provided in the vehicle, which can also be used as a suitcase. Therefore, it can be used as a two-in-one utility as both a suitcase and a trunk.

There are also some add-ons for the passenger and driver, which are as smart as they are pragmatic, with everything right from helmet down to the weather-proof outfit matching the Just 4/2 Concept.

Some of the critics did not appreciate the looks of this concept, while some found it to be strange yet attractive.

In the latest generation, it is expected to be marketed with better looks as the side panels will be provided instead of gaping holes, which didn't suit the model's appearance in eyes of many of its potential customers.

The 2010 Lincoln Town Car

Lincoln has set the standard for roomy luxury automobiles for decades, and the 2010 Lincoln Town Car does not disappoint. MSRP priced between $46,000 and $52,000, it remains one of the few truly affordable luxury vehicles as well.

Stepping into the Town Car is like melting into butter: with soft leather seats all around, plenty of leg room and great visibility, it retains its reputation as a living room on wheels. Yet, this is not your grandma's living room! With a 239 HP V-8 engine under the hood, the Town Car has plenty of get up and go.

Much fuss has been made lately about the fuel-efficiency of American-made cars, magnified by the overwhelming success of the "Cash for Clunkers" program. This Lincoln model boasts 24 mpg on the highway and 16+ mpg in the city, which means you get plenty of mileage out of that tank of gas without sacrificing comfort and luxury.

Safety is always a priority for Lincoln, and the 2010 Town Car has many standard features along those lines including front and side airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and a security system: all this adds up to five-star ratings on every single government crash test.

One of the favorite features for Lincoln enthusiasts is the spacious trunk, and this model doesn't disappoint: the trunk is cavernous enough to hold your golf clubs, your neighbor's golf clubs, and even a cooler of beer to enjoy after the game.

With 50 deluxe interior features standard, you will have everything you need at your fingertips to make your driving experience a pleasure. The 2010 Lincoln Town Car proves that Lincoln is still the choice for pure luxury.

New and Old Knight Rider Car

Anybody who saw the earliest version with the "Hoff" will remember the Knight Rider car Kit. Kit was a Trans am Firebird, and was beyond doubt a beauty at that. Perhaps its most unique attribute - apart from the finicky and fussy talking computer - was the line of red lights spanning the hood. They would all flash in sequence and give off different sounds as the camera zoomed in on it.

I suppose this new Knight Rider production calls for a new Kit, and they definitely haven't dilly-dallied to change matters up a little. Though they still feature a dark, US-made muscle vehicle, everything else has changed. The new car is actually a Mustang - while a very revved up one at that. According to what I've read about it, it is a Shelby GT 500. It definitely has a larger, stronger feel to it than the old one. When you saw that original car, you somewhat could believe that it would be able to fly. This new car, even so, seems much heavy and more hard. It may be easier for people to believe it when the new car snubs ammunition as if they were nothing.

The one thing I don't like with the new car is the sad reality that it no more has the luminous line of red lights on it. However, it does have a horde of dandy high-tech gadgets that wasn't available on the old one. There is a liquid crystal display screen inside that will show cool pictures as KIT the car talks. I'm sure the special effects will be more credible too, and the weapons might be much more high-tech. There are quite a few differences in the Knight Rider car, however, I'm sure probably the most die hard purists will be able to appreciate the Mustang. I for one am already drooling at the expectation of seening it chase criminals.

Evidently, the old car has been put on the market.I'm not surprised by this. With all the promotion that the new production is getting as a consequence of its reintroduction, the owner of the old one is in all likelihood reckoning that he or she can get a some cash from the sale. And it surely will cost a pretty penny. I've got word that the cost of the car was nearly 200,000 dollars - Not precisely small change. I'm kind of jealous of whomever gets their hands on it. I am a big lover of the old production myself.

Also, I recently got in to SUVs, and found a great resource for cheap SUV tires. If you are in the market for SUV tires at affordable prices, checkout http://CheapSUVTiresOnline.blogspot.com for a great deal.

The 2010 Honda Pilot

Honda calls its Pilot a crossover because it handles like a car but has the utility and rugged styling of an SUV. However you want to categorize it, the 2010 Honda Pilot is a practical, capable, spacious and plenty-powerful performer that perfectly suits a family with a large agenda but not necessarily a large budget.

One of the advantages of SUV's is their high seating position. This gives drivers a better view of the road ahead - especially if they're in line behind a lot of other SUVs. It also gives the driver a feeling of security. The Pilot adds to its confidence-inspiring image with a taut, but not harsh, suspension setup and precise steering feel. The Michelin LTX M/S tires on the test vehicle, which Honda loaned to us, are appropriately firm riding, but offer excellent snow grip and above-average traction in the mud and on wet pavement as well. Owners may find them a bit pricey when their tread wears thin but, if you like your Pilot, heat up the VISA card and buy exact duplicates.

The Pilot is plenty roomy, at least in the front two seating rows. We appreciated the large, center-mounted speedometer, but its silver-on-white markings forced us to rely on our Garmin nuvi navigation unit as a speedometer. Our Touring edition tester had too many controls on the center console for our tastes. The buttons are positioned perpendicular to the driver and are not easy to read.

When coupled with the navigation unit, Honda's rearview camera is one of the better we've experienced. Others lack a field of vision needed to clearly see bicyclists, pedestrians or cars approaching from the side. Models without the system project the rear video on the inside rearview mirror. We didn't get a chance to test this, but owner reports give the video-on-the-rearview mirror high marks. Important note: The rearview camera is an additional safety tool. An old-fashioned look over your shoulder, and a stroll behind your vehicle before boarding, are still required for safe backing.

There are eight seating positions in the Pilot. Unless the three in the third row are pre-schoolers, they're going to call it the penalty box. (Honda says the third row has the knee room of the average America. It failed to account for the fact that the average American's knees are connected to thunder thighs and an ample derriere.) Undoubtedly, parents will hear "Jacob always gets to ride in the middle row!" And will reply, "That's because Jake is five foot, eight inches tall and weighs 140 pounds even though he's in the sixth grade, and you're not. Sorry."

The second row offers plenty of room for two full-size adults. The center position on the second row has plenty of head- and legroom but its rock-hard seat cushion limits its usefulness for grownups. Consider the Pilot a four-seat vehicle with emergency space for four, full-size folks you might not really like anyway, or four favorite little ones. The Pilot is also easily pressed into service for trips to the home improvement store. The third and second rows fold almost flat and will accept four-foot-wide items. Both rows fold in a split arrangement.

The Pilot's 3.5-liter, 250-horse V6 is equipped with what Honda calls "variable cylinder management." In an effort to save a few ounces of gasoline, the engine automatically turns off up to three cylinders in low-load situations, such as when cruising along a flat or downhill highway. Auto writers freely toss around the word "seamless," but we didn't notice the Pilot had this feature until we checked the specs. Unfortunately, it doesn't give the Pilot a big boost in mileage: A 16-mpg city and a 22-mpg highway rating barely tops full-sized pickups that have engines almost twice as big and around 100 horsepower. Offsetting its modest mpg numbers, a 21.0-gallon tank makes the Pilot a strong cross-country cruiser.

The Pilot is available with all-wheel drive (AWD). Despite what the ad and press release writers imply, AWD will not (can not) help you retain cornering grip on slippery roads. AWD can only help you accelerate. Unless the directions to your house include "turn off the paved road and watch out for where the creek sometimes turns the road to mud," sticking with front-wheel drive will be just fine.

The Pilot is available in four model choices: The base LX, the mid-level EX, the extra-feature EX-L and the loaded Touring. The Pilot starts at just over $28,000 for the base LX model. The most expensive model, the Touring with all-wheel-drive tops $42,000. Like its Odyssey sibling, the Pilot is assembled in Alabama.

In the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) crash tests, the 2010 Pilot earned the highest rating - five stars - in every category except rollover, where it scored four stars. The 2009 Pilot earned the coveted Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), while the 2010 model has yet to be tested.

The 2009 Honda Fit

The Honda Fit took the market by storm in 2001. It is referred to as the Honda Jazz in Europe and parts of Asia, the Middle East and select other parts of the world. The name Honda Fit is primarily used in China, Japan and the United States. The 2009 Honda Fit uses Global Small Car Platform and is considered a subcompact vehicle.

Listed as an entry level model, the Honda Fit is getting rave reviews for its excellent fuel economy. Now in it's second generation, Honda has given one of their most popular models a face lift so it seems.

Search engine hits for the 2009 Honda fit were through the roof in 2008 as car enthusiasts were excited to see what the new model would offer. Those who patiently waited have not been disappointed either.

Expanded interior room, powerful handling and an even more powerful engine then ever before are just a few of the new features that can be found. This in return increased the Honda Fit's length and width as compared to the previous years model.

Mixed emotions about restricted movements in the back seat were put to rest this year as well when extended leg room was added. Rear seating is still offering all its old tricks though, like raising the seat to form a cargo space.

Under that tiny hood you will find 1. 5 liter engine. The previous model also came standard with this same engine size, but 2009 saw a few changes. Among the most noticeable are the improvements to the iVTEC valve timing and the small increase in fuel efficiency. It is listed with an estimated 27 MPG fuel rating.

You every day run of the mill safety features were not left out, included are anti lock brakes, front and side curtain airbags and head restraints. New this year is the stability control system that can be added to the Fit Sport Model. The downfall to this was that it only comes packaged with the optional navigation system, one of the only complaints this car has seen in review.

Overall, this new model Honda Fit has rated very well. Evaluations and test drives of the vehicle have been extremely positive with very little disappointment. Some are looking for increased horsepower in up coming models but seem to be content with what Honda is offering at the moment. If your in the market for a fuel efficient small car then the Honda Fit is worth some looking in to.

The Volga Cars

Produced from nineteen fifty six onwards, the Volga was the successor of the GAZ M20 Pobeda, a four door passenger car made from nineteen forty six up until nineteen fifty eight. The Volga is manufactured by GAZ, an automotive company created in the late nineteen twenties due to an arrangement between the Soviet Union and Ford. The Volga was popular and was the choice of many people who were among the so called "Nomenklatura", a class of elite people who held important roles within the Soviet Union in areas such as government, education and industry. The car was also used for many service vehicles such as police and ambulances.

At its highest, the production of the Volga marque reached in excess of one hundred thousand units per annum during the early nineteen nineties. Unfortunately since then the figures have been on a downward curve, mainly due to the economic downturn Russia experienced which drastically reduced the demand for high end cars. By the turn of the millennium the output was half of what it was at its peak. Volga managed to establish export links for their vehicles and by two thousand and four the output rose to seventy thousand, a figure still short of their early nineties success but well on the way to recovery.

At present the Volga line up is composed of the 3102 (top of the range vehicle), the 310221 estate, the 311055, and the 31105 (least expensive model). After acquiring the license to the Sebring model (Chrysler), Volga made some adjustments and alternations and the end vehicle was named the Volga Siber. This model is to be added to the present day line up.

Difference Between Audi S and Audi RS Models

Audi has gone from a car company that had reliability problems in the 1980s to one that builds quality, beautiful cars. The company offers a number of models. In this article, we take a look at the S and RS models available.

The Audi R8 is a very high performance car. It is also an anomaly in the lineup of the company. How so? It is the only high performance Audi offering that is a self contained model. In contrast, Audi uses a step up approach on many of its models when it comes to performance. The company will offer a base version of a particular model and then versions that are improved in some way. This is where the S and RS designations come in.

The S versions of Audi models are the first step up from the base models. The S is often thought to stand for "sport" because the upgrades are primarily related to performance. Most Audis come with an S option. The option includes improved brakes, a stiffer suspension and an engine stepped up for high performance. The S versions of Audis also come with the Quattro four wheel drive system that is famous for providing even power and better car control.

The RS designation is a special one with Audi. It refers to RenSport, which means racing sport in German. The RS designation is found less often on many models because it represents a major jump in performance from the basic model. The car is not just added to, but completely redesigned in many cases. This is done at the Quattro Factory, a subsidiary of the parent Audi company. The RS version of cars usually incorporates the latest technology advances the company has to offer. Many incorporate technology used in Lamborghinis since the company is now owned by Audi.

Buying the S designation of an Audi model will give you a sport car. Buying the RS version will give you a puma. Each step up in performance comes with the appropriate price increase.

Best Cheap BMW Cars

BMW are on of the most beautifully designed car and very elegant at that in the motor vehicle industry in or modern so society. When you buy cheap BMW you will be riding on one of the most elegant and stylish cars that you will ever find in the market.

BMWs have a very beautiful interior that will give you comfort and a well structured suspension system that guarantee you safe on the road.

When you consider buying cheap BMW there are a few pointer you should consider having with you to assist you in making a good decision with your dealer on choosing the car of your dreams.

When you buy cheap BMW or any other car at some point in your life, you should always have a test drive and get the feel of getting in touch with the inner most depth of what you will be driving for the rest of your days because when you get the feel on a BMW it very hard to turn back.

When you are cruising around with you BMW on the test drive do make sure that you test drive the car on a mix of road conditions such as rough road to feel the suspension of the vehicle, fast lane driving and the slow lane driving to really get the performance of the car in different conditions.

Before you buy cheap a BMW, take your time to inspect the body work in good lighting so as to make sure that the vehicle is free of corrosion, if it's probably a second hand car from a dealer, it can be one of the most damaging things that can make your car last a shorter period than it should.

Make sure you check on the top, rear, bellow the car, front and the rear bumpers, below the door and any where you think you can find corrosion.

If this will not be taken care of promptly, it will wind up blemishing the paint work of your car from underneath. Always try tapping the suspension of the car with a light hammer to try to detect whether the suspension has been weakened with the rust.

Try to inspect for any leakages in the engine once the hood is open and also take your time to inspect underneath the car for any leakages in the braking system for this can be very dangerous for and people on board the car.

Toyota Aygo is the Perfect Urban Supermini

If you have been even vaguely aware of your surroundings then you may have noticed that here is a new small hatchback that seems to be popping up just about everywhere imaginable. The model in question is the new Toyota Aygo, which has been backed by a tidal wave of enthusiastic press releases, fantastic reviews in the media and an overwhelming amount of commercial success. All of these accolades are extremely rare and desirable for a car which for all intents and purposes, is built to an alarmingly low budget.

This doesn't mean that the Aygo is dangerous or poorly built, it merely means that it has been designed to be cheap so that it can be one of the most competitively priced superminis on the market. It is quite difficult to distinguish between cutting corners and stripping down to pass the saving on to the customers, but I will definitely give the Aygo the benefit of the doubt in this particular matter.

The driving experience is where the Aygo truly comes into its own, providing the perfect kind of urban manoeuvrability and speed in low revs to get you round even the tightest of bends. A spacious cabin and sufficiently loud stereo is a huge boon for the younger drivers amongst us.

All in all I would recommend the Toyota Aygo to learner or new drivers, who are predominantly going to be spending Saturday afternoons tootling round the shops. Though second hand bargains can be found if you keep your eye on the Used Toyota market.

The 2012 Ford C-Max

The world of cars is changing rapidly. With alternative fuels being push around the world, it is just a matter of time before we say goodbye to the gasoline powered internal combustion engine that has served us for well over a century.

But that day is still years, possibly decades away. In the meantime, car manufacturers are continuing to not only further develop and enhance gasoline powered engines, but to reduce their size, increase their output, and put them in increasingly sensible, "right-sized" cars.

Such is the case for the 2012 Ford C-Max, which was recently introduced to the automotive press. Based on the next generation European Ford Focus, (the one that the U.S. will finally get in 2011), the C-Max is the future of the automobile in the United States.

It combines a healthy amount of passenger space and load carrying ability, with a size considerably smaller than the last generation of compact SUV's, yet gives up little to nothing in the amount it can haul. Style-wise, it has a please, compact, well proportioned shape, that is neither car nor SUV, nor minivan.

And under the hood, we will be treated with Ford's latest EcoBoost engines. This technology allows for an incredible horsepower output (nearly 100 horses per liter) with very little penalty in gas mileage. The C-Max should be fitted with a 1.6 liter version of this engine.

While this may seem tiny, the motor will be in the vicinity of 160 horsepower (versus the normal 90-100 horsepower you will find in other cheap econoboxes of this size), yet should return gas mileage in the mid to high 30's.

For years, Ford has kept their beautiful, well designed, highly regarded European models stashed away across the pond. Finally, starting with the Ford Fiesta in 2010, the U.S. customer will finally be able to get a taste of the very best Ford has to offer.

With the Focus and the C-Max as follow ups, Ford's future looks bright indeed.

The 2009 Chevy Aveo

The search for a reliable, economical and safe subcompact car may just end with the release of the 2009 Chevy Aveo. Drivers that would never give this car a second glance now pay attention as the fuel-efficient factor of cars force drivers of larger cars to reconsider.

Three models were released with the Aveo LT as the deluxe version. The LT version is the only model that offers an automatic gearshift option. All models are very well priced, making them a very clever buy in this price range category.

To improve even more on the four-cylinder engine's fuel consumption, Chevy reworked the valves adding a variable timing factor. More power, less fuel guzzled - a stroke of genius.

The automatic gear models prove even better regarding consuming fuel, as the hand gears sometimes cause unnecessary engine revs while the driver gets used to the longer gear shifts.

Safety in a small car was determined as a very important factor for prospective drivers so Chevrolet focused strongly on where and how the Aveo protection systems were placed. All the models come standard with air cushions in the front seat side areas. The braking systems were equipped with anti locking features.

National highway traffic safety administration tests revealed the Aveo earned a five star level. In these crash tests this is the highest safety award a car can get for protecting the driver. Passenger's safety features earned four stars for the front passenger and three stars for passengers at the back during a side impact.

You can choose between two different styles of Aveo - the sedan or the 4-door hatch back model. All of them seat five with ease. The interiors see some refreshing as well, and standard features on all models include a AM / FM radio with 4 speakers including an auxiliary jack, wipers with intermittent settings and OnStar in all models.

The LT model steps up comfort with a more sophisticated speaker system (six of them) in combination with a CD player. You can choose extra features like keyless access, electric windows, central locking and a satellite radio.

The choice of cloth in the interiors give all the models a classy feel - a step up from the previous models that had a cheaper feel about them. Metal trim finishes and luxurious cloth choices set the LT model apart. As with all subcompacts the baggage storage area seems a bit small, but the LT offers quite an improved size.

The Aveo will suit city drivers very well as it guarantees a safe and economical way of commuting over short distances.

The Bentley Envy

Living in Altrincham has made me realise that even Manchester has its rather splendid areas. Having moved to the north from Islington, I initially found myself scouting out areas with little idea of what they were like. Having viewed houses that turned out to be in somewhat less than desirable areas (they certainly don't show that in the brochure), I eventually found myself in the Altrincham environs, and almost immediately knew that this was a well-to-do area that would allow me to settle without worry.

The first things I saw as I pulled into the driveway of the property that I was due to view was not the rather becoming Victorian exterior or the period features, but the neighbour's car. To be precise, a Bentley. Now I'm not one to try and keep up with the Joneses, but the sight of such a prestigious car is enough to spark a pang of desire in any breast, and I was not spared this fleeting moment of aspiration.

Whilst waiting for completion I mulled things over. Fortunately I didn't buy the house I saw that day, as I daresay it would have looked rather obvious had I moved in and later acquired a car to match the neighbours! But I did choose Altrincham as my base, and to my delight I discovered that there was a Bentley dealership not far from my new environs.

Obviously buying a house and a car at the same time is a rather pricey venture, and I therefore thought it prudent to opt for a used Bentley model. I am very glad that I did, because the savings that I made on a model only four years old and with one previous owner were quite astounding. Discovering the delights of Alderley Edge and the Peak District is a fresh experience every time, and I hope that one day my used Bentley will inspire someone else to obtain the same pleasure that I have!

Laura Riley couldn't resist the charms of a used Bentley

The Subaru Impreza WRX

The 5th running of the Targa West Tarmac rally was held between August 20th and 23rd, in and around Perth Western Australia. Consisting of 30 special stages, this years Targa West saw ten WRX cars of varying age and specifications compete against some of the fastest cars on the planet.

Last year's winner Steven Jones was in one of 3 new Nissan GTR 35's which would provide tough competition, although with former British rally champion Alister McRae in a brand new Ralliart prepared Mitsubishi EVO 10 in the same category, he wasn't going to get it all his own way. Local driver Dean Herridge took the wheel of a 2008 WRX STI, relegating former Australian rally champion father Rob, to a 2005 model, one of five WRX cars entered under the Maximum Motorsport banner.

While the GTR35's proved unbeatable on the long open stages, the 2008 sti driven by Dean, was the first of the WRX cars across the finish line in third place outright, some 1 minute 36 seconds quicker than the Lancer Evo 10RS driven by former British champion Alister McRae.

WRX STI's also took out 7th, 9th and 10th places in the modern competition category. Ivan Thompson took 7th place in his MY06 model STI and impressively, Brendon Winterbourne drove his MY99 model 1999 impreza WRX to 9th place ahead of a myriad of Mitsubishi Lancer EVO's, V8's and Porsche GT3's.

So it is a great testament to the engineers of Subaru and prodrive that have produced WRX cars over the past 15 years that have consistently excelled in the race & rally environment, but are still within reach of the average rally competitor. This Year's Targa West has proven that 10 year old wrx cars can outperform newer vehicles costing many times the price, so the Subaru Impreza WRX is definitely an excellent choice if you are looking for an ultra competitive rally car. It was also great to see the mighty MK1 Escort in the classic category - another rally legend still going 40 years on.

The Chevy Lumina Sedan

The Chevy Lumina was a sedan and minivan designed by the popular American Company, General Motors. It was in production from the year 1990 all the way until 2001 when it finally ceased production. Having undergone various redesigns and changes over the years, it proved to be a popular car with a good track record.

All of the cars in range were built in a single plant, based in Ontario, Canada. The car was known for its unique design and also for being the longer cars of the time. Eventually, in 1997 the Chevy Lumina start to be phased out with the coming of the new line of products called the Chevrolet Venture.

1990 saw the introduction of the first range of cars in the product line. These were mid-sized cars similar in style and design to the Pontiac Grand Prix. They prove to be a success and were generally well received by customers and organisations alike.

1995 introduced the new range of models, the second generation for the Chevy Lumina. 1995 saw a major redesign, resurrecting the two door version which was originally sold as the Lumina coupe. A more powerful engine was included and the car was also sold to taxi and police organisations with special packages.

The cars were long known for being fairly cheap and reliable. Having undergone various changes and upgrades, the car has had quite a considerable lifespan and various aspects of its design have been used in more present models. Parts are also fairly cheap and the cars were relatively economical to run.

In 1998, the Chevy Lumina went through yet another overhaul, receiving some more advanced second generation airbags and various other safety changes. A four wheel drive was also introduced, replacing the Lumina back in 2000. However, for a while after, the cars were still produced sold exclusively for rental fleets.

1998 saw the third generation of the Chevy Lumina including certain tweaks to the safety of the car. Second generation air bags were included another safety changes and additions were made to the car. Four wheel drive was also introduced, which replaced the original Lumina back in 2000.

Two years afterwards, the production also came to an end to the United States but continued in various countries in Asia and Latin America where it was also sold under a different name. The car had a considerably successful and popular history in the Middle East and South Africa as well and various aspects of the car have been used in designs right up until the present.

The Chevy S 10

The Chevy S 10 throughout the years has been a common and mostly-appreciated sight since 1981, when it made its debut as a 1982 model. It took off down the road on a 22 year run as the preferred compact pickup truck until it was replaced by the Colorado in 2004. The little pickup truck that could is still out there, though, with many still running the roads around the nation.

Categorized as a compact truck, the S 10 also ran for a time in the General Motors stable as the GMC S 15, though that model eventually became the Syclone. Chevy's model was a replacement for the Luv, which had seen service since the early 1970s and was a rebadged Isuzu KB. The Arab oil embargo pointed out the need for small, fuel-sipping vehicles and Chevy make a concerted effort at delivering them.

The S 10 emerged as a result of that effort, making its debut in 1981 as a 1982 model. What was really great about the S 10 was that it also came as a sport-utility vehicle (SUV), appearing as the S 10 Blazer in 1983. That particular model was a 2-door version, beating Ford to the SUV market and lagging just behind Jeep, though no manufacturer thought to add 4-door models until 1990.

General Motors, the parent company of Chevrolet, has featured a number of compact pickups since 1982, with the SUV versions being around in 2 or 4-door skin for over 25 years. The S 10 itself is a favorite of do-it-yourself mechanics, particularly its early model years, which were relatively easy to work on.

Engine choices in the Chevy S 10 have also varied over the years. Its maiden voyage was carried out using the Isuzu inline 4 cylinder engine from the KB. For the time (1982) it had decent horsepower, putting out 84 horses, with 101 pounds-feet of torque. Though such power was nothing to shout from the highest mountaintops about, it was okay nonetheless.

The optional engine from the S 10's debut up through 1985 was the a 2. 4 liter V6 with a Rochester 2-barrel carburetor that upped horsepower to 115 ponies and 148 pounds-feet of torque, which added a bit of 'oomph' to the package. For a short time (1983 - 1985) Chevy offered a diesel engine, with a whopping 58 horses and 98 pounds-feet, but it died for lack of interest.

Over the life of the vehicle, both 4 and 6-cylinder models continued to be offered, and horsepower, torque and fuel economy improved. Fuel injection eventually became standard, replacing the less-efficient carburetor, which happily disappeared from the scene after a time. Sequential port, multi-port and throttle body injection all played a role at one time or another, along with 3 and 4-speed automatic transmission and even a slick 5-speed Borg Warner manual.

Second generation S 10s ('94 to 2004) continued to improve, adding to the fun factor with even more 2 or 4-wheel drive versions. Larger, more powerful and more fuel-efficient engines also were offered, even including a hot SS type that came with a 4. 3 liter engine that kicked out from 180 to 195 horsepower. Improved graphics packages and a lowered profile on 16-inch rims complete the set-up. It was discontinued, however, in 1998.

The Chevy S 10 was an almost iconic small pickup in the General Motors lineup for a very long time. It's still out there in many driveways, streets and roads. Known widely throughout North America, it filled a needed role back at a time when American automakers desperately needed a small truck that could get decent gas mileage and deliver steady sales to the maker.
