The Volkswagen Scirocco

It was the mid nineties and I wanted something different to drive. Having just sold a fairly well worn but solid 1980 GTV, the one with chrome bumpers, I was still in a fastback coupe phase so the Scirocco was a natural choice at the time.

Finding a Scirocco in half decent condition was a difficult job as most had been driven to within an inch of its life. Finally I came across one while buying parts at the trade counter of a VW garage. It was a 1984 Scirocco Storm with electrics and leather, covered in dust and general garage junk, but it looked original. A deal was struck and I took it away that week, after a bit of playing around it was up and running, and it wasn't a bad car at all, very original. There was one big problem, it was brown. Not tan, this car was chocolate brown with tan leather, luckily it had escaped the vinyl roof surgery.

I was reminded of this car when I was behind one in traffic recently. I used to wash my one with pride, loved cruising in it, and now I was looking at this one with a gasp of shock at how awful it looked! Its covered in cheap plastic moldings on the body that look like they were fitted with a hammer. The front end looks misaligned, the driver looks like hes too close to the steering wheel, it just looks all wrong. What the hell was I thinking?

The New 2010 Volkswagen Passat

The new 2010 Volkswagen Passat focuses on packing as much comfort and dependability into a small car as possible, but it also features plenty of safety features. All styles of the Passat feature an Anti-Lock Braking System, which helps prevent the brakes from locking and causing the vehicle to slide. The front end has been designed to be crash optimized, with shock absorbing pads and properly placed crumple zones to protect the driver during front end collisions.

All 2010 Passats come standard with 6 airbags, located around the vehicle to optimally protect every passenger. Customers can also upgrade the airbag system to add two additional airbags, for extra safety in case of a crash. Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution is a newer feature that VW has added to this car. EBD allows the vehicle to add extra braking power to any wheel, allowing for a more controlled braking experience. If you slam on your brakes hard to avoid hitting another car, more weight and pressure is pushed onto the front brakes. The EBD system allows the car to add extra power to the front brakes to compensate, therefore avoiding sliding or loss of power.

This car also features a host of more minor, but still important, safety features. Like many new cars, this one features a built in tire pressure sensor, allowing the driver to monitor tire pressure electronically from inside the vehicle. Safety belts, shatter resistant glass, and all of the other regular safety features are also included in all packages. For anyone concerned about the safety of the vehicle they drive, the Passat has enough safety features to protect the driver and passengers during any situation.

The 2010 Volkswagen GTI

First Impression
The 2010 Volkswagen GTI competes with BMW 3 series, Infiniti G convertible or Audi A4 because it brings a good feel and enough sensations at the seat of the driver's pants to create a great bond with the vehicle. It can be called another sport car on the road but it's more elaborate than that. It still has the old roof panel like the old designs

2010 Volkswagen is considered to be one of the best cars out there because of its refinements. The new, angular front-end forgoes the 2009's curvilinear front design for something stronger and more masculine. Neatly bent creases replace softer lines along the body. 2010 Volkswagen now has larger taillights, angular headlights and tighter profile. The dual exhaust bookend the lower bumper - this is a sublime design addition that adds strength. Sit a 2010 Volkswagen GTI next to a 2009 and the changes are more apparent.

Interior Features
The interior design of the 2010 Volkswagen is unique:

  • Touch the interior materials, for they are solid
  • Luxuriate in the driver seat, for it is one of the most comfortable in this bracket
  • Grip the steering wheel and marvel at its sporty feel and racing-car design

Not only is the steering wheel the best in this bracket, it is one of the best feeling steering wheels on the market.

Pricing, Trims and Options
I list the starting value of a 2-door and 4-door Volkswagen GTI.

The Volkswagen GTI 2-door with the standard 6-speed manual is priced at starting cost of $23,489. But for a 4-door, 6-speed manual 2010 Volkswagen GTI its base price is $24,089.

Some of its options are as follows:

·Sunroof goes for $1,000.
·Rear side airbags on the 4-door only cost $350.
·Bi-Xenon headlights is valued at $700.
·Dynaudio 300W sound system is priced at $476.
·DVD satellite navigation cost $1,750.

Safety, Quality and Reliability
It's standard safety equipment includes:

  • stability control
  • antilock disc brakes with brake assist
  • front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags

Engine and Transmission

  • It has a turbocharged 200 horsepower, 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that puts out 207 pound feet of torque engine.
  • It has A 6-speed manual transmission comes standard with a 6-speed dual-clutch automated manual

Vehix View of the Volkswagen GTI
Vehix called Volkswagen GTI a top notch European car. It is an exquisite example of how to build a proper hot-hatch. Visit http://www.thefreshlistings.com to see how Vehix solved my problem of finding a new car from the comfort of my home.

VW Polo is a Car With a Great Body

Everyone loves a car that has a great body. Whether it is a boxy classic style, or the smooth rounded body that people love to run their hands over. It is the very reason that people call cars a "she." When looking at the VW Polo, there are a lot of different body's that have evolved through the years.

There are a few different body styles that have been generated by Volkswagen. There is the basic 3 Door Hatchback which all variations had this style. The 2-door saloon, the 4-door saloon, 5-door hatchback, 5-door estate and the 5-door crossover SUV style hatchback. All of these are variations that were created based on what the consumers needs were at the time.

The VW Polo is ideally the best car for a new driver. It is easy to maintain, has longevity and is easy on the wallet. It is also small and carries a couple of people but for the most part is just for the driver. When people that had families saw how amazing this car was and just how functional it could be, the designers decided to placate them and design a car that was more geared to the family lifestyle. Allowing for more space and more doors to accommodate the growth of families. It created a totally different style of car but still had all the other things that made the Polo unique.

For a long time, the VW Polo was not thought about. It was put on the proverbial shelf to make way for many other styles that have been created. As it sat there, the dust collecting on its classic style, other cars with different quirks or trendy look were being introduced. They were fun to purchase but lacked what the VW Polo had. The economic roller coaster had people popping out to buy these trend driven designs but that petered out when the longevity was tested and found failing. So yet again the VW Polo was carefully pulled of the shelf and dusted off with love to introduce the balance between beauty and effectiveness that everyone enjoyed at one time.

The 2009 Volkswagen TDI

2009 Volkswagen TDI Performance Upgrades are finally here! If you've been waiting patiently for the chance to modify your 2009 TDI, your wait is over.

True Volkswagen TDI enthusiasts have something to cheer about as new Performance and Upgrade product releases are here for the 2009 Volkswagen JETTA 2.0L TDI Sedan and Wagon. After Volkswagen's decision not to manufacture 2007 and 2008 VW TDI'S, many TDI enthusiasts have pounced on the chance to buy a factory fresh 2009 TDI Jetta. With no TDI vehicles coming off the Volkswagen assembly line for a few years, manufacturers of VW TDI upgrades had to turn their attention to other product lines. Now, however, with the popularity of Volkswagen's new 2009 TDI Jetta's, upgrade and modification companies have taken note and are again giving car owners the types of Performance products they crave - products that until only recently had been reserved for older model VW TDI'S.

Performance Cold Air Intake Systems and Rapid Power Module's, or "Chips" as they are often called, are two of the easiest, least expensive, and most effective upgrades you can make to your 2009 TDI Jetta. Diesel engines want cold air to breathe and properly atomized fuel to burn, and an upgraded intake and module will give your TDI just what it needs. If you are interested in maximizing the full potential of your VW TDI, read on.

To give your Turbo Diesel more cold air, a high-quality choice comes from Advanced Flow Engineering, or AFE Power as they are commonly known. AFE has recently released a Performance Air Intake System for the 2009 Jetta TDI 2.0L with an impressive list of benefits and performance data. The system is 100% bolt-on, mounts to the lower airbox housing, and no drilling or cutting is required. After a simple 15-30 minute installation, you can expect air flow to increase 56% over stock. Horsepower gains average +10 at 3150 RPM, and expect Torque to increase by 23 lbs. at 3050 RPM. The system comes with a high efficiency, low restriction air filter in your choice of either a Pro Dry S or a Pro 5R. Most people choose the Pro Dry S for ease of use with filter cleaning being a simple wash and air dry.

Performance modules improve TDI fuel economy and provide extra horsepower at the same time by improving the efficiency of the vehicle fuel injection system. Performance market manufacturer and TDI stalwart Bully Dog now markets a "Rapid Power Performance Module" for the 2009 VW TDI Jetta which effectively improves fuel economy and horsepower. This module is a simple inline, between wiring harness, plug-in chip designed for safe and long lasting use. It is adjustable on-the-fly, allowing you to choose between three power levels; Stock, +10% and +15% horsepower via a simple toggle switch that can be left in the engine bay or installed within the interior of the vehicle for easy access.

The total horsepower increase from this module on the highest setting according to Bully Dog's Dyno testing is +25HP and a torque increase of 30 ft-lbs. If you can keep your foot of the gas pedal you should even see some impressive fuel economy gains on a car that already gets remarkable mileage.

Combine the Performance Cold Air Intake System with the Rapid Power Module and you'll see tremendous gains in horsepower, torque and economy; perhaps most importantly, though, will be the increased fun you'll have driving your modified 2009 VW Jetta TDI!

A 2009 VW TDI Performance Intake together with the 2009 VW TDI Performance Chip will make both you and your 2009 Jetta very happy.
